Most 300W units are bought to keep one or two things alive. The C300 is the one to buy when the count is higher than that, and the reason is the port panel rather than the battery.

Eight ports is the specification doing the work

Three AC outlets and eight ports total is the widest spread in this comparison, against nine ports but a smaller pack on the EcoFlow RIVER 3 and six ports with two AC outlets on the Jackery Explorer 300. It matters more than it sounds. A power strip plugged into a single outlet works, but the strip itself adds a plug and does nothing about the ceiling: three devices sharing 300W is three devices sharing 300W however they are connected.

So the useful question is what fits under that ceiling at once. A 60W laptop charger, a 25W camera charger and a 30W fan come to 115W, which leaves 185W spare. Add a 100W projector and there is still headroom. What does not fit is anything with a heating element, and that is a class limit rather than a C300 limit.

What 288Wh gives you

Allow 15% for inverter conversion loss on AC devices, a planning assumption rather than a measurement, and 288Wh delivers roughly 245Wh at the socket:

On the DC path the inverter never runs, so phones do better. At roughly 90% efficiency the pack holds around 259Wh, or about a dozen full charges of a 20Wh phone battery.

The refill number, converted

Anker quotes 50 minutes to 80%. That is 230Wh restored in 50 minutes, or 4.6 watt-hours a minute. The RIVER 3’s hour to full works out at 4.1, and the Yeti 300 manages 5.9. Converting to a common rate is the only way to compare claims quoted to different end points, and on that measure the C300 sits second in this group.

For most buyers second is enough, because 4.6 watt-hours a minute means twenty minutes at a socket returns roughly 92Wh. Take 15% off for conversion loss and that is a little over an hour of laptop time bought back during a coffee.

Where it stops

Two places. The pack is small enough that a full night of CPAP is out of reach at 40W, and the cell rating of 3,000 cycles is the shortest here. At one full cycle a day that is about 8.2 years against 11.0 for the two units rated past 4,000. The five-year warranty softens that, and for weekend use neither figure will ever decide anything, because a unit cycled sixty times a year is limited by calendar age long before cycle count.

Buy it if several things need power at once. Buy the Explorer 300 if the unit is going on your back.

Neither figure is wrong, but if you are treating a power station as a decade-long purchase, that gap belongs in the decision.

Anyone whose unit lives in one place. If it sits under a desk or in a van, the 6.6 lb saving buys nothing and the Yeti 300 refills faster while the C300 runs more devices. Weight only counts when you are the one carrying it.

Every unit in this class recharges from a wall socket. Only one of them tells you what it will accept from a panel, and that single published number is why the RIVER 3 is here.

What a 110W ceiling actually means

Divide 245Wh by 110W and a complete refill is about 2.2 hours of input at the rated rate. That figure is a best case: it ignores conversion loss inside the unit and assumes a panel is hitting its rating, which folding panels rarely do outside of a clear sky and a good angle. Derate a 100W panel to a realistic 70W and the same refill lands nearer 3.5 hours.

Either way the conclusion holds. One 100W folding panel and one good afternoon fills this unit from empty. That is a genuinely different way to own a power station from carrying it back to a socket every night.

The ceiling cuts both ways. Because the input caps at 110W, a 200W panel gives you nothing a 100W panel does not, so the panel decision is made for you and the money above 110W is wasted.

Recharge rate is the specification buyers skip, and it is the one the Yeti 300 wins outright. Everything else about this unit follows from a decision to prioritise throughput over portability.

Converting three different charge claims into one number

Manufacturers quote refill times to different end points, which makes them useless side by side until you convert them. Watt-hours per minute fixes that:

The 350W rating, in perspective

350W continuous is the highest here, and 50W of headroom is real: a 330W load runs on this and trips the other three. In practice that covers a larger fan, a bigger monitor, a corded drill on light duty or a projector with a laptop alongside it.

It does not change the category. A kettle draws around 1,500W, a hair dryer 1,200W and up, and a microwave around 1,000W. Those are roughly three to four times what this unit can supply, and a 600W surge rating does not close a gap that size. If your list includes any of them, the whole 300W class is the wrong shelf.

What 13.7 lb costs you

This is the trade, stated plainly. The Yeti holds 5Wh more than the Jackery Explorer 300 and weighs 6.6 lb more to do it. Per pound of carrying that is 21.7Wh against 41.1Wh, so you are paying almost double the weight for the same energy.

Who should buy it

The unit that stays put. If it is charging tools between jobs, feeding a router and a laptop through a work day, or sitting on a shelf ready for the next weekend, the fast refill and the 4,000-cycle rating are exactly the specifications that matter and the weight never gets tested. If it is going more than a hundred yards from a vehicle, buy something lighter.

What to look for before you buy

Two numbers wear the same name

“300W” is a rate and “300Wh” is a quantity, and this class is sold under both. The output rating is the tap: it decides whether a device will switch on at all. The pack is the tank: it decides how long it stays on. Every unit here rates 300W except the Goal Zero Yeti 300 at 350W, and the packs run from 245Wh to 297Wh, a 21% spread hidden behind a shared label.

Combine the two and you get the most useful sentence in this guide. At full rated output, the RIVER 3 empties in about 42 minutes, the Yeti 300 in about 43, the C300 in about 49 and the Explorer 300 in about 50. This is not a class you run at the ceiling. It is a class you run at a tenth of it, for a long time.

What 300W will not run

Rule this shelf out quickly if any of these are on your list. The wattages below are typical ratings, not measurements:

  • Electric kettle, around 1,500W
  • Microwave, around 1,000W
  • Hair dryer, 1,200W and up
  • Space heater, 1,500W
  • Coffee maker with a hotplate, around 900W
  • Full-size refrigerator, which runs near 150W but demands a start-up surge several times that from the compressor

The last one catches people, because 150W looks comfortable against 300W. The compressor’s inrush is what trips the inverter, and a 600W surge rating does not cover it. If a refrigerator is the reason you are shopping, the honest answer is a larger class with a 1500W or bigger inverter, which is where the 1000W portable power stations start.

Anything without a heating element or a motor is fair game: laptops, phones, tablets, routers, LED lighting, cameras, drones, fans, projectors, CPAP machines and 12V coolers.

Two things fall out of that table. The first is that a 52Wh capacity gap, which sounds significant, is worth about 45 minutes of laptop time. The second is that no unit in this class covers an eight-hour night of CPAP at 40W. If that is the job, start with the best 500Wh portable power stations instead and stop reading here.

Three tests. If any single item you own draws more than 300W, step up. If you need more than about six hours from one charge on a 40W device, step up. If you want to add capacity later, note that only expansion-capable units allow it, and the RIVER 3 is explicitly listed as not expandable.
