The Power Lifting caveat matters

BLUETTI advertises 2700W through Power Lifting, and that number appears in most retail listings. It carries a condition that is easy to miss. Power Lifting works by reducing output voltage to keep current within limits, which is fine for a resistive load such as a kettle or a heater element. It does not work for anything with a motor.

The honest figure for a fridge, a pump or a power tool is therefore 1800W, the same as the C1000. Anyone choosing this unit specifically for the bigger headroom number is buying something that will not apply to the load they had in mind.

The weight problem

At 35.3 lb the AC180 is the heaviest hand-carried unit here. It holds 96Wh more than the C1000 and weighs 7 lb more. That is a poor exchange rate, and it is the main reason this is not our overall pick.

What to look for before you buy

Start with the load, not the battery

Almost every bad purchase in this category comes from sizing by capacity. The first question is not how many watt-hours you need. It is whether the inverter can start what you plan to plug into it.

A refrigerator compressor pulls a surge several times its running draw for a fraction of a second at start-up. Manufacturer runtime charts tend to assume a constant, modest draw. Real appliances cycle.
