If you searched for a 600W power station you have probably been reading listings where 600W is the surge figure, not the output the unit can hold. Three of the four units here are rated 300W or 350W continuous and touch 600W only for the instant an appliance switches on. One is rated 600W continuously and will hold it. Search for a 600W power station and almost everything you find is a 300W unit with a 600W surge number on the box. This is the exception, and that is the whole reason it leads the list.

What 600W continuous actually changes

A surge rating covers a fraction of a second. A continuous rating covers as long as the battery lasts. A 550W electric kettle, a 500W blender or a 600W circular saw will trip a 300W inverter within a second of switching on, whatever the surge figure claims. Here it just runs.

Power Lifting sits above that at 1500W, which handles the spike when a motor starts. On the other three units, the 600W figure is the spike, and there is nothing above it.

The arithmetic nobody prints on the box

288Wh is the pack. Assume roughly 85% survives conversion from DC to AC, which is a fair figure for a small inverter, and you have about 245Wh at the outlet.

  • At 300W: about 49 minutes

Where the recharge time rescues it

0-80% in 45 minutes on a 380W AC input means you can put roughly 230Wh back into the pack in three quarters of an hour. Pair that with 24 minutes of 600W output and you can sustain a 600W load at about a 35% duty cycle indefinitely, provided you have a wall outlet. That is a realistic pattern for a saw, a heat gun or a kettle, all of which are used in bursts.

It is not a realistic pattern away from the grid, where the pack is all you have.

Where it costs you

Size. At 12.5 x 13.4 x 9.7 in this is a bulky case for 288Wh, and at 9.4 lb it carries fewer watt-hours per pound than either the EcoFlow RIVER 3 or the Jackery Explorer 300. You are paying for the inverter, not for the battery.

If your 600W appliance is real, that trade is worth making. If you only ever draw 100W, you are hauling an oversized inverter around for nothing, and one of the lighter units below does the same job in less space.

Every unit on this shortlist charges from a wall. Only this one tells you what it does with a solar panel, and for anyone shopping in this size class that is usually the point.

The solar sum

245Wh divided by a 110W input is 2 hours 14 minutes to fill the pack, if the panel delivers its rated output. Panels rarely do. Assume a realistic 70% of nameplate in decent conditions and the figure becomes about 3 hours 11 minutes.

Either way, one afternoon fills it. That is the number that matters, because it means the pack is a daily-cycle device rather than a reserve you slowly drain over a trip. A unit that takes two days of sun to refill has to be rationed. This one does not.

What it runs once it is full

Take 245Wh, subtract the roughly 15% lost turning DC into AC, and you have about 208Wh at the outlet:

X-Boost gets to 600W by dropping the output voltage so current stays inside the inverter’s limits. A resistive load does not object: a heater simply runs cooler and slower. A motor does object, because it needs full voltage to make torque. So for a pump, a compressor or a corded drill, the number that applies is 300W, not 600W.

Where it loses

Capacity. 245Wh is the smallest pack here, and the Jackery Explorer 300 carries 292Wh in a lighter body. On watt-hours per pound the RIVER 3 returns 31.4 against the Jackery’s 41.1, so if you are carrying it rather than charging it, the Jackery wins outright.

Choose the RIVER 3 when the recharge source is the sun rather than a socket, and when you would rather have three AC outlets and a one-hour refill than the last 47 watt-hours.

The specification gap to know about

Jackery does not publish an AC recharge time for this model in the specification set we compared. The other three all do: 45 minutes to 80% on the BLUETTI, an hour to full on the EcoFlow, about 50 minutes to full on the Goal Zero. If your use pattern is drain it, refill it, drain it again, that silence is a real problem, and one of the other three is the safer buy.

Refill speed is the specification most people ignore in this size class and the one that decides whether a small pack is usable all day.

The charge-rate arithmetic

Divide capacity by the published time to a full pack and you get an average rate in watts:

If the unit lives on a bench, in a truck bed or beside a stall, that is a non-issue. If it goes in a rucksack it is the single reason to buy something else.

The 600W here is a surge, not a promise

350W is the sustained rating. The 600W covers the moment a device switches on. Fifty extra watts of continuous headroom over the two 300W units is a real advantage on loads that sit right at the limit, such as a 300W television plus a charger, but it does not make this a 600W power station. What to look for before you buy

The 600W on the box is usually not the 600W you want

There are two numbers on every inverter specification, and shopping by wattage means picking up whichever one the listing printed larger.

The continuous rating is what the unit will hold until the battery is empty. The surge or boost rating is what it will pass for a fraction of a second while a device switches on. Across this shortlist:

Three of the four reach 600W and cannot stay there. If your appliance draws 500W steadily, only one of these units will run it.

X-Boost deserves a separate warning. EcoFlow reaches the higher figure by lowering output voltage so that current stays inside the inverter’s limit. A resistive load does not mind: a heating element simply runs cooler. A motor does mind, because it needs full voltage to develop torque. So for a pump, a compressor or a corded tool, the figure that applies is 300W.

Runtime, worked out rather than charted

Manufacturer runtime charts assume a modest constant draw. Here is the same arithmetic at loads people actually plug in. Every figure below takes the rated capacity, subtracts 15% for inverter conversion loss, and divides by the load. That 15% is a planning assumption, not a measurement.

At a 60W laptop:

Watt-hours per pound separates them far more than capacity does

Refill speed is what makes a small pack workable

A 245Wh to 297Wh battery is small enough that you will empty it. What decides whether that is a problem is how fast it comes back.

Pair the refill time with the runtime and you get a duty cycle you can hold indefinitely near a socket. The Elite 30 V2 delivers 24 minutes at 600W and takes 45 minutes to put 80% back, so a 600W tool used in bursts is sustainable at about a 35% duty cycle. The Yeti manages roughly 46% at 350W.

The missing figure on the Jackery is a genuine gap. It is not slow, it is unknown, and that is worse if your pattern is drain, refill, drain again.

Cycle ratings only compare once you apply the floor

Every brand quotes cycle life against a capacity it considers end of life, and those floors differ.

  • RIVER 3: 3,000 cycles to 80%, so 245Wh becomes about 196Wh, a 49Wh loss
  • Explorer 300: over 4,000 cycles to 70%, so 292Wh becomes about 204Wh, an 88Wh loss

A bigger cycle count against a lower floor is not automatically a better cell. Compare the number of years first, then compare what the pack still holds when it gets there.

Solar is only on the table for one of them

Only the RIVER 3 publishes a solar input, at 110W. That fills its 245Wh pack in about 2 hours 14 minutes at full rated panel output, or closer to 3 hours 11 minutes at a realistic 70% of nameplate. It also caps what a panel can usefully deliver, so a 200W panel is largely wasted on it.

If your recharge source is the sun rather than a socket, that single specification decides the purchase, because the other three leave you guessing.
